Numerous nations face the complexities of underwater resource exploration in a dynamic aquatic environment. Traditional human-diver-based methods prove costly, hazardous, and demanding. This research paper introduces an innovative approach to enhance remotely operable vehicles (ROVs) by integrating advanced robotic arms, elevating them to intervention-class ROVs capable of object retrieval. The process includes system evaluation, the design of retrofit components, and precision manipulation algorithm development. Illustrated through its application to UWARL’s ORCA ROV, this approach showcases technology’s potential to address underwater exploration challenges, offering safer, more efficient, and cost-effective resource identification and extraction methods.
