Due to the increase in motorization, there is an exponential growth in traffic congestion and related issues. The increasing impact of parking on the effective movement of traffic is demonstrated by the integration of parking regulations with traffic management. Therefore, it is vital to understand how drivers choose their parking lots. The primary objective of the study is to examine the parking preferences and mode preferences of parkers to find suitable parking spaces in Thiruvananthapuram city. The data collection was done using a revealed preference survey, and the preliminary analysis was carried out to study parking preferences. The study highlights that the government should establish a well-planned travel demand policy that focuses not only on parking pricing but also on parking management to achieve sustainability in mobility. In accordance with study data, about 30% of parkers will switch from private to public transportation modes if the government adopts comprehensive strategies to improve existing transportation facilities. This will resolve a lot of the parking-related issues.
