The main objective of this study was to investigate the dynamic response of linearly elastic layered media subjected to moving loads with a constant amplitude and a harmonic variation. To obtain the response to moving loads, a method was introduced using the response to an impulsive load with a simplified linearized loading function and superposition. To find the response to an impulsive load, the formulation based on the discrete Green's function for harmonic loads in layered media and the Fourier transform was used. The convergence studies were performed to investigate the effects of the number of elementary circular loaded areas used to reproduce the actual loaded area, the initial position of application of the load, and the initial application method. The effects of the velocity and the depth to bedrock on the surface displacements were investigated for the moving constant and harmonic loads.
