This chapter describes the Latin American space arena, from the first activities developed by each country with the creation of its space agency, to the launch and use of satellites. There is detailed analysis of the knowledge in Latin America of communications, Earth observation and science, technology and education. Hence, the regional satellites launch partnership, as well as launch capabilities, concerning projects that are under development by Brazil and Argentina are addressed. The history of Brazil as a launch pioneer in Latin America and how its satellite launch vehicle struggled, is discussed. Once again, in this chapter, French Guiana’s launch capacities are separately reported.
