Abstract The maximum achievable acceleration of a vehicle is limited by two factors: maximum torque at driving wheels, and maximum traction force at tireprints. The first one depends on engine and transmission performance, and the second one depends on tire-road friction. In this chapter, we examine engine and transmission performance.
