The family of controllers that stabilize the standard configuration is parameterized in terms of a free stable real rational matrix in this chapter. The family of controllers that stabilize the 2DOF standard configuration and the 3DOF system is then derived from this parameterization. Stability is only one of several objectives in feedback control system design, however. Often it is also required that the system steady-state error in response to certain persistent deterministic inputs be zero.
