This paper presents k semi-active damping system for lateral motion on bains. Measures of ride quality. lateral acceleration, jerk level are used for comparison between the semi-active system and standard passive damping. The comparison is carried out through simulations and with an experimental prototype system tested on a real train. The results show an improved isolation between bogie and car body. The system has been developed for the X2000 train and tested on various backs and speeds. The system hardware, software and control strategy are described as well as test methods and test results.
