This paper discusses the buckling characteristics and ultimate strength evaluation of ring-stiffened cylindrical shells under hydrostatic pressure. The predicted value and experimental value of ultimate strength are sourced from public literature and specifications. Based on experimental parameters, the ultimate strength is counted by the theoretical formulas of Rules for the classification of diving systems and submersibles (CCS. 2018. Rules for classification of diving systems and submersibles. Beijing) and Underwater vehicles, Systems and hyperbaric facilities (ABS. 2012. Rules for building and classing-Underwater vehicles, systems and hyperbaric facilities. The State of New York) is analysed and compared. ABAQUS is used to develop models and experimental value and predicted value with theoretical formulas are compared through the finite element software analysis. According to the deviation and coefficient of variation (COV), the reliability of different analysis results is analysed, and the reliability range of different parameters for theoretical formulas and finite element analysis are discussed.
