The present environmental pressures and trends among various groups regarding energy conservation, pollution control, and dependency on foreign oil provide strong new stimuli for the planning, organizing, financing, mass production, and introduction of existing electric vehicles. These pressures are growing and will continue to grow as long as the personal mode of transporation in the United States will be subject to internal and external threats. These pressures will build with increased demands by U. S. society for a better quality of life and a cleaner physical environment.
