The main objective of the research reported here is to study the potential benefits to be gained by regularly updating tra-fic signal plans. The early sections of the report discuss the phenomenon of aging and sets down the basic theory for the simulation model. Following the definitions of parameters, the theoretical results are discussed. After a general description of the data made available by the traffic authorities, the results of its analysis are given. The theoretical results are compared with the empirical and conclusions drawn.
