This work is part of the CNES activity in the field of space oceanography. CNES is presently designing a low mass and power altimeter, in order to measure the sea level with a precision better than 10 cm. This study deals with the optimal estimation of parameters of altimetric signals, which will be performed on-board the satellite (processor INTEL80C86). From the iterative algorithm of maximum likelihood estimators, a simplified version is given, and study of its estimation accuracies (after quantization), and of the computing time (implementation on the processor and measure of this time), is made. We finaly get very satisfying results, with biais and standard deviation of estimators, as well as the execution speed.
