This paper presents flight test results of a control surface effectiveness failure detection and isolation (FDI) algorithm. The flight test program was sponsored by AFWAL as part of the reliability and maintainability (R and M) initiative and involved in-flight testing and pilot evaluation of a prototype reconfiguration strategy (1), (17). This strategy included the FDI algorithm described in (2) whose performance is considered here, as well as a nominal flight control augmentation system (CAS) and a reconfiguration 'MIXER'.
