Since 1978, CROUZET SA has been working in the field of coherent laser radar under contracts from the French Ministry of Defense (DRET and STTE). One of the CROUZET's major activities concerns pressure sensors and air data systems for Aeronautics, and the CO2 Doppler lidar technique appears as a unique way to measure airspeed outside the disturbed aerodynamic field for air data calibration. In this paper, a functional breadboard of an anemometer is described and some flight tests on board a PUMA helicopter and a CARAVELLE aircraft are reported with the official support of STTE and the Flight Test Center (CEV) in Bretigny.
