Engineers at the Air Force Avionics Laboratory (AFAL) believe, DAIS could revolutionize aircraft avionics and cockpit displays. The recent demonstration was the first time DAIS hardware and software have been totally integrated, permitting a pilot to perform all cockpit functions under the aegis of the system. Functional capabilities demonstrated include inertial/baro-damped navigation; command NAV; TACAN and ILS steering; MK82 weapon delivery (with scoring); stores management; and preflight, takeoff/climb, cruise and approach/land.
