Discusses provision of a jam resistant voice communications capability prior to the advent of the SEEK TALK era. This resulted in program direction for HAVE QUICK on September 9, 1977. The author depicts the fundamental differences in the program objectives between HAVE QUICK and SEEK TALK. To attack the current UHF jamming threat and address technically-evolving threats, the Air Force has a program of phased technical improvements to air-to-air and air-to-ground tactical radios.
