Various energy sources and motors of diverse types can be used in electric cars with operating modes subject to a number of particular constraints. As a result, the possible structures of the converters, that are analysed in detail by the authors, are about a dozen in number. Also considered is the use of solid-state components - thyristors, power transistors and new components.
