The F-15 Eagle, F/A-18 Hornet and AV-8B Harrier II are three of the world's most advanced aircraft in terms of design, performance and the manufacturing methods used to build them. Much of the credit for the latter belongs to the industrial engineering division at the McDonnell Aircraft Division of the McDonnell Douglas Corp. The company's manufacturing operations are among the most advanced anywhere, particularly in the areas of direct numerical control.
