Discusses survivability measures that should be implemented, centering on interconnection and interoperability among the many communication systems. The NATO system consists of the backbone system, the tactical system and the national strategic systems. The long-term objective is to combine these capabilities into the NATO Integrated Communications System, a military version of the Integrated Services Digital Network.
