Some fundamental considerations relating to the minimum number of ground-check points that must be used in order for the bearing-error function to be resolved into its octantal as well as its quadrantal and 'duantal' components for automated VHF omni-range (VOR) radio beacons are examined. It is shown that only nine accurately measured sample values of the bearing error beta (phi) are required to accurately determine this bearing-error function everywhere throughout its period 0 equal to or less than phi equal to or less than 2pi.
