A highly efficient and reduced-size power-feeder has been developed for FS-400M submarine optical transmission system by NTT. The authors describe new techniques incorporated in the power-feeder. A series resonant constant current converter, common control method for stabilizing the output current of each converter, and a new load sharing method for equalizing the power-feeder output voltages are applied to the power-feeder. A surge absorber for protecting repeaters against surge is also described.
