An Airport surface control (ASTC) system is intended to expedite the safe movement of aircraft and vehicles on the airport surface (Runways, Taxiways, etc.). This paper describes the present ASTC system and discussed potential improvements in its surveillance function, with particular emphasis on multilateration techniques for aircraft-vehicle position determination identification.
