This paper describes an approximate analytical theory of the nonseparating transonic interaction of a weak normal shock with a turbulent boundary layer including the effect of heat transfer. The resulting mixed rotational transonic flow boundary value problem is solved by Fourier transformation methods. Results are presented for turbulent boundary layer pressure distributions, flow geometry and skin friction. Surface heating is shown to significantly enhance the boundary layer-thickening and separation-provoking effects of the viscous-inviscid interation. The results find application, for example, in studies of the postentry transonic aerodynamics of hot Space Shuttle orbiter vehicles.
