The governing equations are developed for incompressible laminar and/or turbulent three-dimensional boundary layers over arbitrary blunt-nosed bodies with second-order curvature effects included. The boundary-layer energy equation is also included in the analysis so that the effects of surface curvature on heat transfer could be studied. The equations are developed in a numerically generated surface-oriented orthogonal curvilinear coordinate system and are solved numerically. The only restriction on body geometry is that it possess a blunt nose and a plane of symmetry. Various test cases for spherical and ellipsoidial bodies are presented to demonstrate the accuracy of the resulting theory and numerical methods.
