The different techniques available for monitoring the internal corrosion of lines and process plant in offshore oil/gas installations are outlined. The methods discussed in detail in this paper are described as 'electrical-resistance' and 'linear polarization-resistance'. These methods produce a continuous electrical signal while the units are on-stream. The corrosion data obtained can be correlated with operating conditions and/or with any method used for corrosion mitigation. (Wassmann)
