To adequately design planing craft operating at high speeds in a seaway tKe designer mjst have available a valid performance technique for determining pitch, heave, and acceleration of his design. This is true for both military and commercial applications and is requried if the designer is to minimize weight, material and cost. The object of this paper is to provide the designer with a usable procedure specifically developed for hard chine planing craft. The development of teis prediction technique inclueded the examination of current analytical and model prediction techniques for determining pitch, heave and accelerations, the correlation of predictions to actual full scale trial data and the determination of the most influential hull parameters upon craft while operating in a seaway.
