An exciter test is performed on prototype ships as a stage of the vibration level control procedure in the Polish Shipbuilding industry. These measurements are carried out in shipyards what makes the interpreation of the results difficult due to shallow water effect. The purpose of this paper is to show some results obtained during the exciter tests in shallow and deep water and to present a method of determination of the entrained water.(Wassmann)
