The JEFF(A) and JEFF(B) advanced development full scale test program has started. Contractor shakedown tests with these air cushion vehicles are underway at the Naval Coastal Systems Laboratory. Trials conducted by the David W. Taylor Naval Ship Research and Development Center (DTNSRDC) will resolve effectiveness and design issues affecting the proposed U.S. Navy Landing Craft, Air Cushion (LCAC). Craft and support data acquisition approaches were evolved and are now in use. Test requirements from many sources are merged into a cohesive schedule based upon historically realistic planning factors. A Navy test team has been organized, trained, and activated to conduct trials culminating in operational demonstrations in 1979. (De Posamentier)
