A force transducer for measuring the dynamic forces on truck wheels has been designed and a prototype constructed. The transducer is a straingauged hub, mounted between the drum and wheel, with minimal displacement of the weel. It measures the side force normal to the wheel plane, and two perpendicular forces in the wheel plane. These latter forces are resolved by an analog device to provide instantaneous vertical wheel load and braking or driving force. This report describes the static and low speed calibration of the transducer and gives the calibration results.
