This report investigates methods of reducing marine power plant costs and fuel consumption through the use of diesel power plants. In this study, diesel plant concepts were developed for a refrigerated containerships application and their economic aspects investigated in comparison with a conventional steam power plant. The methods of analysis are detailed in the report to facilitate their use in other studies. (Stoehr)
