This paper describes the design and analyses of a heat pipe radiator for cooling high-power TWTAs in a space environment. The radiator design is based upon the results of an optimization study to minimize weight and achieve compatibility with commercial spacecraft objectives. The selected heat pipe design approach incorporates a conservative reliability philosophy and provides maximum operational flexibility. A detailed analytical model of the radiator was developed to evaluate thermal performance under worst-case environmental and operational conditions. (Wassmann)
