This paper presents an analysis of a proposed solar powered high altitude airplane called 'STARDUSTER'. Starduster is designed to reach extreme altitudes exceeding 200000 feet and, although flight is limited to the daylight hours, long distance flights over thousands of miles are possible. Vehicle configurations are examined and subsystem functional requirements are defined.
