This paper reviews the design and application of the new Low Friction Wet Grip Testing Facility at MIRA, which will allow testing of tyres and vehicle braking systems at speeds up to 160 km/h over a range of surfaces including basalt, polished concrete and Bridport pebble. The disposition of the surfaces together with extensive wetting arrangements will allow a large range of test work to be performed including legislative tests to Annex 13 of Regulation 13 concerning anti-lock.
