Beginning with the fundamentals of the secondary speed control hydrostatic system, the function is shown by two configurations: a hydraulic and an electro-hydraulic valve actuation of the adjustable secondary unit. In a short digression on the advantages of this speed control it will be compared with the conventional hydrostatic system. Based on simulation with a non-linear and discontinous model for the dynamic behaviour, it is possible to show the influence of the system parameters and, as a result of that, to determine the stability of the system control. The application of the system is illustrated by an experimental vehicle and a combustion-engine test equipment.
