Hitachi's diesel railcars were supplied to the bolivia railways as they passed various required tests. Four power cars are to form a train and a pressurized cooling water system for the engine, a heating system for the passenger room and underfloor equipment, and a dynamic brake are provided for each. These arrangements were designed especially to enable the railcars to operate under severe conditions in the service area, namely high altitude, cold climate, and continuous gradients.
