The overall corrosion control and sand production management philosophy for the Britannia subsea development is outlined. The philosophy includes the materials selection for wells, manifolds, and flowlines, corrosion control by inhibition, and sand erosion prediction and monitoring. Comprehensive corrosion and erosion monitoring systems have been installed to assure the integrity of the subsea system. Finally, the corrosion control philosophy was developed and integrated into the operating philosophy and practice.
