Conventional workclass remotely operated vehicles (ROV) are powered by onboard hydraulic systems that convert electrical energy to hydraulic power. This process was found to be ergonomically inefficient, thus an ROV design powered directly by electricity was developed. To reduce the high costs of deepwater operations, oceaneering has developed another device called the Hydra Minimum.
