A new trenching system called SeaJet 2000 was developed by dredging and marine contractor HAM offshore services in collaboration with the Dutch company Seatec. The system is a free-flying remotely operated vehicle (ROV) system incorporating a modular tool frame for trenching pipelines, flowlines, umbilicals, power and fibre optic cables in soft and hard soils of up to 80-100 kilo pascal. It is expected to trench flowlines of diameters between 200 and 380 mm and operate in water depths up to 2500 m. SeaJet 2000 is going to be first marketed for the Norwegian project Norsk Hydro Troll Olje gas province.
