ESP (Electronic Stability Program) is a driving dynamical control system that serves support driver in critical driving situations. A basic component integrated in the ESP-system is an on-line sensor monitoring system that is mainly used for detecting faults in sensors as early a possible so that a fail control can be prevented. A model based sensor monitoring concept is presented for the ESP-system that is developed, implemented and now produced in series by the company Continental Teves.
