This report describes a development of Matrix model of prototype Electro-hydraulic Camless Valvetrain (ECV). The model is developed using bond graph technique and is partially validated with respect to limited available experimental data for a single-cylinder laboratory implementation. The effect of parameter change on the system design and performance is studied. Preliminary simulation results show significant system sensitivity with respect to variations in small clearances. The report also discusses system sensitivity and other issues which characterize this in practice highly challenging concept. It is anticipated, that the system will also be sensitive with respect to plant varability/aging and changing environmental conditions such as temperature variations. The ECV concept still has many open issues and challenges which will have to be resolved before possible practical implementation.
