Fuel cell vehicle technology success relies on customer acceptance both from a performance and economic standpoint. To take the next step to commercialization a new generation of fuel cell vehicles has been developed. Most fuel cell vehicles require an additional battery to ensure a good driving performance. This paper describes how a battery-less fuel cell power train has been developed and successfully integrated in a vehicle. To fulfill the vehicle package requirements new electric power conversion modules with a high power density have been designed. Experimental results obtained from driving cycles show the improved performance of the vehicle.
