The development and the addition of four novel jack-ups by the Danish company, Maersk, to its fleet to represent some of the world's most advanced designs is discussed. The four new MSC CJ50-X100 MC units will represent the latest generation of jack-ups able to drill in 350ft of water. One of the most innovative feature includes the positioning of the accommodation blocks that are located in two blocks shaped as V around the forward leg. The design will incorporate a number of key efficiency features that will effectively increase drilling performance by 20% when compared to conventional jack-up rigs. The specification of effective drilling equipment will make rig wells qualified for drilling deep wells including high temperature/high pressure wells.
