The powertrain is an important source for the interior noise of vehicles. Due to reduced weight and increased rotation moments in modern engines, the contribution of structure borne noise in vehicles tends to increase; therefore it is worth investigating thoroughly all parameters which can potentially influence this noise transmission mechanism. In passenger cars the engine mounts, especially hydro mounts, have a strong influence on the structural dynamics of the engine brackets. This impacts: -the hybrid-modelling of the transfer paths with exchangeable engine mounts on the basis of experimental transfer path data; -the modelling of the engine mounts within numerical models for structural dynamic simulation of running engines. This presentation is focussed on the description of the physical parameters which are controlling the interaction between engine brackets and engine mounts: The elements of the complex stiffness matrix for the translational as well as for the rotational degrees of freedom of both components.
