Methods applied to measure the lifting capacity of hydraulic power units used in agricultural tractors require complicated costly measuring stations. The author presents a mathematical simple method for the determination of the variability of lifting force as a function of the position of lower hitch points, on the basis of characteristic dimensions of power lift elements and the pressure of the hydraulic fluid. The iterative Newton method was selected to investigate solutions. It makes it possible to reduce the systems of nonlinear equations to systems of linear equations which could be solved using the determinant method. The analysis of the obtained results and kinematical systems of the power lifts makes it possible to draw a conclusion that the efficiency of the power lift with an internal cylinder was distinctly lower. The results make it possible to evaluate the proposed method as suitable to prepare estimates of characteristic curves of the power lifts of agricultural tractors.
