A modern and highly effective technology applied for seating on foundations of marine and land-based machines and equipment was developed. A special epoxy resin-based composite material was used for making chocks for this purpose. The foundation chocks made of metal and the modern chocks cast from the EPY resin compound on spot directly under the installed object were compared. As example, a ships main engine was considered where the assembling requirements were very high. Both the technical, economic and maintenance criteria were taken into account. The results of special laboratory tests were presented. They confirmed the essential technical advantages of the EPY compound application in the assembling of machine components. The basic technological and mechanical requirements of a polymer compound used for foundation chocks were also discussed. Some examples (ship screw propeller, mining hosting machine, ball bearing of a dumping conveyor, slewing rail of a lignite excavator) were presented to illustrate the possibilities for using the composite material.
