In this paper a physically-based model of a pilot pipeline is validated with real data. A well-known model is discretized using the finite differences approach in order to obtain a state-space representation either if two leaks are assumed. It is also discussed the model parameters needed to particularize the presented model. Once the model is available, it is validated with real data at three operation modes. This kind of models are used in the design of certain observers that compose some multi-leak diagnosis schemes. A validation of this nature has not been published before.
