At Reynolds-numbers Re = 2 x 104 - 1 x 105 a laminar separation bubble occurs typically on the suction side of a thin airfoil like the SD 7003. The transition in the shear layer of the separation bubble shows a dynamic behavior which was investigated by means of the time-resolved Particle Image Velocimetry in the past. The development of vortices which arise from Kelvin-Helmholtz instabilities is studied in detail in this paper. Different experimental setups and angles of attack were evaluated in order to get detailed information of the structures that occur in the region of the separation bubble.
