Daimler Trucks' supply chain answer to cover global presence with market individual brands and products and the requirement to enable commonality scales: Global Supplier Management Process & Consolidation Center Process. For international supply chains, the worldwide Daimler Trucks production network in the past was marked by a very heterogeneous complex global supply system between all regions, suppliers and plants around the globe. These individual approaches resulted in differently applied purchasing conditions, INCOTERMS, packaging means, pricings, cost and many inefficencies. And with the strategy to enable global communalities for the the individual brands and entities on powertrain components and truck parts, the complexity was even increasing and obviously no longer manageable due to the fact that this caused even more increasing material, informational and financial flows. The solution is standardization of all elements in international supply and related processes. To reach this standardization the first step was to have a common strategy enabling common process understanding and clearly defined common targets. The first lever of success and to realize the strategy was the Consolidation Center concept. The Consolidation Center in the regions focus on all informational, physical and financial interface processes to the international plants. It acts as one face to international plants. By this focusing and bundling of responsibilities all international supply processes within Daimler Trucks were streamlined and standardized. Standardized IT-system requirements with clear interfaces to peripheral processes follow these standardized processes. For each destination the financial processes and the applied INCOTERMS are configured according to the latest tax, taxation and customs rules. The global rollout of the Consolidation Center process as the international standard delivery mode Daimler Trucks is nearly completed. Some adaptions have to be made at FUSO in Japan.
