In this paper the main components of a pipeline are introduced and a systematic pipeline threat analysis is presented. Based on this analysis, a low cost next generation sensing system has been developed for the security and safety of pipelines. The proposed wireless pipeline surveillance network (BODAS) is not sensitive to terrain, light and weather conditions and it can easily be deployed, redeployed and managed.
