Lightweight is a continuous challenge especially in the automotive industry. Over the last 10 years, the focus was put on reducing weight by using lightweight and high strength materials in order to reduce the amount of material. The realization of such light weight solution requires higher effort in the manufacturing of the product. Robust production can only be achieved by considering the material behavior and the process constraint directly during the conception and design phase of the product. This article gives overview about various tube forming technologies developed at Faurecia Automotive Seating to manufacture components for seat adjustment. Depend on the material and the wall thickness of the tube, different manufacturing technologies have to be used to realize the component, which fulfill the requested product performance on different level.
