In this paper, drivers characteristics are assumed to be constant. However, drivers changes their characteristics adaptively to maintain stable driving state, namly, they decrease the characteristics for precise control and decrease time constant for quick response. By means of the closed loop analysis proposod in this paper, the control effects of chassis systems are understood explicitly in terms of the driver and feedback maneuvers influencing on vehicle motions, and then the following conclusions are suggsted. The closed loop analysis is quite useful to evaluate the complicated effects of many parameters on handling performance. The performance index defined as quadratic form of state variables gives very significant results which correspond well with actual drive feeling, and the index is estimated by vehicle design parameters including chassis control gains as well as drivers characteristics. An appropriate and quantitative evaluations for new chassis systems will be possible through further refinements of the weighting factors for the performance index.
